Gold Dust
The gold dust is made during the placer mining process in the form of tiny gold particles. The gold dust is also a kind of polymer. Gold dust is in use from ancient times. There is a legend in South America related to a coronation ritual. In this ritual, the king to be, first embrocated his body with oil and then he used to cover it with the gold dust. This made his skin look golden. With this shining skin he used to dive in the lake in conjunction with his followers offering the jewelery items (especially of gold).
Uses of Gold Dust
Nowadays gold dust is used in number of processes and in different industries. Some of the uses of gold dust are mentioned below:-
Wound Dressing: - Gold dust is used as a protective material or covering for curing a wound. The main reason being that the gold dust does not changes its properties in high pressure. When gold dust is applied on the wounded area, it gets convert into gel because of the reaction with the wound exudates. Gold dust protects the wound and its surrounding area from further harm which can be caused by some kind of bacterial infection.
Genetic Engineering: - In genetic engineering, gold dust is used in the manufacturing of man-made plants and nicely shaped pieces of bread.
Edible gold Dust: - Gold dust, available in golden yellow color, is also used in some edible products. For example, gold dust provides a glittering gold look to cakes, chocolates etc. One needs to use on a small quantity of gold dust for an exquisite shine.
The edible gold dust does contain gold and is very safe to be consumed.
Sometimes the edible gold dust is mixed with some cooking oil or alcohol.
Apart from all the above mentioned uses, gold dust is also widely used in an array of jewelry items. Gold dust provides a unique shine to the jewelry accessories. A simple non-gold jewelry can be made to look alike the original gold jewelry by simply coating it with the gold dust. Gold dust can be found with various jewelers in the marketplace. Gold dust is measured in the quantity of gram and kilogram.
