Gold Watches

Gold watch is a mechanical or electronic device that is either worn on wrist or kept in pocket (if it is not provided with fastening chain or a leather belt) to know the exact time. Gold watch can also show date, month, year and week days. The strap of gold watches may be made up of leather, fiber or metal. Gold watches are much costlier than other watches because of high price of gold used in their formation. Generally gold watches are considered as a jewelery item and not as a time telling instrument. The gold watches can be classified into two main categories based on the mechanism they use to display time. The categories are as follows:- Mechanical gold watch The mechanical gold watches uses three hands of different sizes called hour hand, minute hand and second hand respectively, to display the current time. These watches consist of a dial which is numbered from 1 to 12. The time is calculated by analyzing the exact position of the hands. The mechanical gold watches can further be divided into two main categories Coil or spring driven gold watches. In this type of gold watch the movement is provided by the elastic energy of winding coil. It requires the coil or spring to be winded manually after some particular time. The winded coil starts unwinding themselves and provides mechanical (rotational) power to the hour hand, minute hand and second hand of the gold watch. Electronic batteries or cells driven gold watch:- These gold watches drives their hour hand, minute hand and second hand by the power provided by electrical energy of the cell. The mechanism of these watches is same as those of winding coil driven watches. Electronic gold watch. In electronic gold watches the movement is provided by quartz and the watch is powered by electronic batteries or cells. These gold watches use digital displays (LED) that represents time in numerals separated by colons. The mechanical gold watches does not show as much accurate time as shown by electronic gold watches due to the abnormalities and friction offered by its highly complicated mechanism. The mechanical gold watches may also show a deviation of few seconds due to change in temperature and position. On the other hand electronic gold watches display very accurate time and are also insensitive to change in temperature and place. Irrespective of their poor time display, the mechanical watches are more expensive than electronic gold watches due to highly complex technology and craftsmanship required to manufacture them.
